MVC Developers Part 7 – Custom System Configuration

One of the most powerful elements of the Magento e-commerce system is the System Admin Config section. As a developer, will it allow you to quickly and easily set, elements that allow your end-users to their system and your Magento custom modules to configure.

Like a lot of things in Magento can be intimidating the first time you try to install a new configuration section from scratch, but once you done it once the power of (almost) code will form a less addictive. Let us begin.

Magento Model Code Generation

This is a quick one for advanced users, is a recent problem, I answered StackOverflow inspired.

Magento as well as about an abstract system as one of the advantages is the opportunity it presents metaprogramming. Drops action in a controller (which is the following code, you can define an internal function in PHP)

Magento – How to Add JQuery/Ajax Add-To-Cart

So, the thing Ajax and all being, I was hunting for a way to an item to add the car with a Ajax call in Magento. Recently, I noticed there was a module that apparently either did not I, but had not seen it or did not exist when I wrote this, so I hacked my way through it.

PHP is not my primary language – I'm from the ASP, ASP.Net, C # world, but Magento was convincing enough that I took the plunge. I'm sure there are many things I do better / differently than here, so if you could get some suggestions, I'm all ears!

MVC Developers Part 4 – models and Basics ORM

The implementation of a “Tier Models” is a large part of an MVC framework. It represents the details of your application, and most applications are useless without data. Magento Models play an even greater role, because they usually contain the “Business Logic” that often (good or bad) are relegated to the controller helper methods or other PHP MVC frameworks.

The following is part of a longer series on Magento aimed at developers familiar with PHP MVC development. Although each article can be read stand alone, each article is based on concepts discussed in earlier articles. If you are confused, especially to catch up on the earlier work first.
